I apply the 13 days test to any presidential candidate. That is: how would they have handled the Cuban missile crisis? Our intelligence found the missiles, but the Soviets claimed they were purely defensive. Most of Kennedy's advisors wanted him to invade Cuba. Those who didn't were called chickens by those who did. Kennedy resisted the temptation to do what some now call ';decisive military action';, i.e. the kind we took in Iraq. He handled it with tough talk, a naval blockage, and a secret backroom deal with the Soviet Union to pull U.S. missiles out of Turkey. He wasn't tempted to put an end to the Soviet threat once and for all. The cold war didn't end for another 30 years.





I think Obama has the leadership ability, intelligence, and instincts to make a similar decision. I think McCain would have been the loudest voice in the room in favor of invasion. Putting McCain's finger on the button is like saying you're suicidal. You might as well just go right into psychotherapy for your self-destructive instincts.





We need someone with a cool head and good negotiating skills if we're going to give them the power to destroy the world. That person is Obama.
Russia and rogue states control our nuclear button not the president. we will not use them unless we are attacked or unless an attack is imminent. destruction of the world is not a decision that is taken lightly.

to date only the US has ever used nuclear weapons. the threat of a nuclear war is the last thing we have to worry about. not even the craziest of the world's leaders want nuclear war, it would be the end of this planet.
Obama is better. McCain is too dangerous around the nuclear button. He is very likely to start WW3 against Russia over some obscure countries like Georgia that have nothing to do with US interests.
Obama. Whether I would vote for him or not, Obama. That button can not be trusted to someone with something to prove. We are closer than we even want to imagine to that scenario.
