I used to have a 1998 BMW 328i sports coupe that had a traction control button that you could push on and off. Now I have a 1998 BMW M3 coupe and this doesn't appear to have this button. Does this mean there is no traction control or that the traction control is always on?On my 1998 BMW M3 (e36) there doesn't apear to be a traction control button? There used to be 1 on my 328i
They both can have traction control. I think it was optional, but almost every single one has it... kind of like the sunroof.
Sunroof was optional, but I have never seen one without it... there are some, but they are very rare and sometimes people pay more to not have it. (People who want the weight reduction for racing).
Couple ways that you can tell.....
1. Get it some sand/wet grass/wet pavement... try to get the wheels to spin.
2. If you look above the throttle body in the engine, there is a wire harness on the top of the throttle body if you have traction control. Some people remove the traction control's throttle body for a non-TC throttle which is slightly bigger and allows for better air flow leading to more power.
3. Go to a BMW dealership... give them your VIN number and they can give you a print out of all the options ordered when your car was newly purchased. On my 1998 BMW M3 (e36) there doesn't apear to be a traction control button? There used to be 1 on my 328i
read the manual
lol
i dont think they put traction control in the m3 because its a sports car.
the 328 was a luxury car
