They are attached to the steering wheel. I live in FL and it has been very hot so it seems the buttons have been melting and one caved in. If you look on the back of the wheel you will see a couple of screws. you will have to go to the dealer to buy just the part but is is a very simple repair. like changing a lightbulb...Do anyone know if cruise control buttons on a '99 Ford Explorer are replaceable?
Before you change the button disconnect the battery , they have small wires so take some needle nose pliers to remove , hope this helps.
You have to remove the steering wheel, to do that, you have to remove the air bag. Always disconnect the battery first.
