Why do people press harder on the buttons of a remote control when you know the batteries are dead?

Why people do this?Why do people press harder on the buttons of a remote control when you know the batteries are dead?
Because sometimes it works, especially if the problem is failing contacts rather than dead batteries.

because they dont know the batterys are dead yet (just cuz u know, doesnt mean they do) and they want to ake sure thy pressed the button down all the way and there wasnt a mistake

and then I will spend ages doing it, when its so much easyer just to walk up to the tv!!
heheh.. i do tht.. its jst a reflex wen u cnt get wht u want u try harder.. in this case we press hard asuming it mite wrk.. lol
because people are stupid,it's like the way we speak slower and shout when talking to someone from another country
